Dr. Kari M. Melton is the founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for MYREM, Inc. She is responsible for overseeing the overall management and planning of the organization.
In 2001, Melton began the process to obtain a California real estate license through Accredited Real Estate School in Sacramento, CA. In 2003, she received her Certificate for Real Estate and passed the California Department of Real Estate Examination (DRE License # 01435208) Soon after, she landed a job as a Realtor with Reality World Centennial in Hayward, CA.
Melton graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University East Bay in 2003 with a B.A. in Political Science, Pre-Law. While attending college, she was voted an All-Conference player in three different sports; basketball, soccer and golf. She was also voted an Academic Scholar Athlete. It was during this time that she began an internship that led to a job as a paralegal working out of Oakland specializing in the legal fields of real estate, estate planning, probate, taxation and contracts.
While working both as a Realtor and a paralegal, Melton was inspired to apply to law school. She matriculated from The San Francisco School of Law in 2008 and earned her doctorate degree. During her time as a law student, she worked two internships one for criminal defense and the other for juvenile criminal defense; all within the counties of San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, and Alameda.
Post matriculation from law school, she was hired directly into a management position at Lacoste, Inc., a world-renown French luxury retailer. In 2012, she was promoted from managing the Corte Madera store to managing the San Francisco flagship location.
While working in retail management, Melton made the courageous decision to then pursue the long-time passion of starting a nonprofit organization to help serve people in need regardless of their socioeconomic status and/or demographics, thus becoming the impetus for finding MYREM, Inc. In 2013, the idea became reality and MYREM, Inc. came into fruition.
